The police report added: “The men came in wearing masks and said they needed the car. “Come on, get it,” Mitch said.
Marner told investigators that the attackers did not know who he was.
“The suspects didn’t know it was Marner,” a source told the newspaper. “They’re just interested in the Range Rover, which will sell quickly overseas.”
The suspects could not be identified and were arrested.
“My first reaction was how dare someone in our city do that. Violence against any resident is unacceptable and I know Toronto Police are working hard to bring those responsible to justice,” said Toronto Mayor John Tory. .
“I am grateful that no one was injured in this incident, according to the police,” the mayor said. “I know the police are now working to arrest the suspects in this case and are working relentlessly to prosecute car thefts – many arrests were announced in the past week.”
