Colin Kaepernick, the protester of the original NFL anthem and famous Nike publicist, will receive an honorary degree from Morgan State University.
The university announced Wednesday that Kaepernick will receive an honorary degree alongside filmmaker David E. Talbert and educational justice advocate David Burton.
Morgan State University President David Wilson released a statement honoring the three recipients.

Kaepernick, who recently inspired a series on Netflix as well as releasing a children’s book, will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.
The former 49er has spent most of the past month looking for another opportunity to join the NFL.

But it’s odd that Kaepernick wanted to return to the league, as he compared the NFL’s talent selection process to a 19th century slave auction.

Kaepernick has not played in the NFL since ending his contract with San Francisco at the end of the 2016 season.
