Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gueye, midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, has been asked by the French Football Federation, to explain his absence on the final day of the French League against Montpellier.
Someone familiar with the incident told The Associated Press that Gaye didn’t play because he really didn’t want to wear a rainbow number on his jersey.
The man spoke on condition of anonymity because Gaye has not yet commented publicly on the incident.
The Ethics Council of the French Federation sent a letter to Gay, obtained by the Associated Press, on Wednesday, urging him to explain the reason for his absence from the fight on Saturday.
The board said that if the reports were wrong, the Senegal international could take his picture on the shirt.
“His absence has given rise to much speculation that is widely interpreted as a refusal to participate in this process to raise awareness of anti-discrimination,” council president Patrick Anton wrote.
Guy and his team -mates traveled to Montpellier for the match, but PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino cited “personal reasons” for his absence from the field.

The issue quickly became a political issue in both Senegal and France, and following a campaign of criticism against his compatriot Idrissa Gueye, the Senegalese president tweeted his support for Guy.
“I support Idrissa. His religious beliefs must be respected, ”the Senegalese president said.
Former Senegalese Prime Minister Abdoulaye Mbaye also supported the player saying: “The PSG player is not homophobic. He doesn’t want his image to be promote homosexuality. Leave him alone. ”
Same -sex relationships are considered a crime in Senegal and can carry a sentence of up to five years in prison.
Midfielder Gaye, 32, regularly posts messages about his religion on his social media platforms.
