Valencia, a Spanish football club operating in Spain’s first division, has announced that it has informed police of death threats against club president Anil Murthy.
These threats came in light of the team’s uncertain performance this season, witnessing its current eleventh place in the Spanish Football League table, in addition to its inability to win the Copa del Rey after losing to Real Betis on penalties in the final leg of the competition.
The Spanish club released a statement confirming: “Valencia, through the club’s legal services, is collecting all death threats, insults and other actions against President Anil Murthy, his relatives and club employees.”
The club indicated that: “The police have been informed of these measures and the complaint will be updated in the coming days, including reports of hate demonstrations and threats of violence that have been implemented on social media.”
He added: “This type of behavior is not socially acceptable, does not represent any of the club’s values and could lead to legal consequences.”
