The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the exclusion of Kenya and Zimbabwe from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Côte d’Ivoire.

In an official statement, Caf indicated that the exclusion of Kenya and Zimbabwe was the result of their failure to lift the ban placed on them by the Board of the International Football Association.

The African Confederation allowed two teams to participate in the qualifying draw, but it was agreed that the ban would be lifted two weeks before the start of the first round matches.

The start of the first round of qualification is scheduled for June 1, 2022.

Kaf stated that the Kenyan and Zimbabwean teams were declared underdogs after being disqualified from the qualifiers because they did not meet the criteria set by the FIFA Congress as a precondition for lifting the ban.

Thus, the third and eleventh groups will be completed by only 3 teams each, and the first and second places will qualify for participation in the tournament.
