Former Las Vegas Raiders head coach John Gruden took two minor legal wins Wednesday when a Nevada judge rejected the NFL’s motion to dismiss his case and submit it to arbitration.
John Gruden resigned from his position as head coach of the Oakland Raiders in October, following several previous emails in which black NFL leader DeMaurice Smith said he had “too many Michelin tires.” In another email, Gruden described NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell as “vulgar” and “an ignorant anti-football scumbag.”

While the sports community was more supportive of Gruden’s resignation, the NFL and commissioner accused Roger Goodell of setting up a “malicious and planned campaign” to leak those emails and tarnish his reputation. In response to Wednesday’s ruling, the NFL said that neither the league nor Goodell had leaked emails to the media.
“We believe Coach Gruden’s allegations should go to arbitration and will appeal the court’s decision,” the league said in a statement. “The court’s dismissal of our termination request is not a substantive determination in Coach Gruden’s case, which, as we said at the outset, has no legal or factual basis and is based on false premise, neither the NFL nor the Released. Offensive emails from Commissioner Coach Gruden. “.
“The process will take care of itself,” Gruden said outside the courtroom.
“Let’s get the process going,” Gruden said outside the courtroom. “Good luck raiders. Say Raiders. I got nothing [else] comment. This process will take care of itself. It’s good to be back in Vegas. I’m meeting my friends tonight. ”

Gruden’s lawyers said in March that the NFL and Goodell “leaked Gruden’s handpicked emails from years before the Raiders recruited him on their usual media leaks.”
“The defendants then deliberately used these emails to force Gruden to resign, eventually causing Gruden to lose his teaching career, support and sponsorship,” the lawyers added.
As ABC News points out, the judge’s suspension of Gruden’s arbitration claim means the case will help find out who actually leaked his career-destroying emails.
