Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan has admitted he “doesn’t believe at all” French sports minister’s comments about off-field chaos in the Champions League final. The Minister blamed the English fans for showing up in large numbers and not having the correct cards, but forgery and causing a riot.
Hogan said: “These statements upset us. I would say that we are incredibly surprised that someone in this position made comments in the first place at this point, when we did not have enough time to understand what happened. investigation to prove all the facts. As we have said before, there should be an independent and transparent investigation into what happened in the match. Therefore, making comments at this point, before any investigation has begun, is completely inappropriate. We must know all the facts to make sure that the scenes we have all seen – utterly disgraceful – will never be repeated in the future.”
