Moroccan fans attacked the Moroccan team’s coach, Bosnian Vahid Halilhodzic, after the ‘Atlas Lions’ defeat against their American host in a friendly match on Thursday.
The match, staged at Cincinnati Stadium, ended with Morocco losing 3-0, in a match in which the ‘Atlas Lions’ appeared pale-faced and lackluster in performance.
After the game, social media pioneers released a video showing several fans of the Moroccan national team in the United States singing against Halilhodzic, while one of them insulted the Bosnian coach and demanded his immediate resignation .
Moroccan media is promoting several coaches to take over the technical direction of the “Lions of the Atlas” in case Halilhodzic is fired, and the two local coaches, Hussein Amota, who are currently overseeing the Moroccan selection of local players, and Walid Rekraki, who was recently crowned the African Champions League title along with Wydad, are the most prominent candidates.
It should be noted that the Moroccan team qualified for the World Cup organized by Qatar later this year, and drawn in a group that includes Belgium, Croatia and Canada.
