On Monday’s ESPN 2 “Around the Horn,” radio host and network contributor Sarah Spain took a beating against a group of Tampa Bay Rays players who refused to wear the rainbow logo on their uniforms as part of the annual “Pride Night” Team.
The actors cited “religious” reasons for not supporting the LGBT community.
Spain disagreed with the argument, calling it “ridiculous” and saying the players were “trying to be fanatical”.
“Pride is a connotation, so if you don’t want to wear an eye patch you don’t like or accept them,” said Spain.
“[This] This happens when he’s not affected by things, which is usually a meaningless class,” he continued. “This isn’t just about baseball. This BS religious exemption is used in sports and in other cases allows people to forfeit their right to medical care, jobs, apartments, children, prescriptions, whatever. That’s why we have to stop playing because we’re trying to protect people who try to be fanatics from asking for release while those they trust suffer the consequences. ”
Host Toni Reali asked Spain for the phrase “trying to be bigoted”.
