Amadou Diawara was left out of the Roma squad, and the player confirmed his preference for La Liga. “Jose Mourinho has always been honest with me.
The Guinean player turns 25 next month and has only made eight appearances for Roma this season and has provided just one assist.
It’s a huge loss for a player who cost €21m in a deal with Napoli in the summer of 2019 but is now out on the market and out of his pre-season training schedule.
Diawara said: “The first two years went well, but then some injuries and an epidemic slowed down my growth. Then Mourinho came along and working with him was a dream come true and he brought a lot of hope to the club and the city.”
“I had a good relationship with him, even if I didn’t have much playing time. It’s a technical decision, he’s always been honest with me and I accept it.”
As for the future, Diawara is looking forward to Spain after a full career in Italy starting in 2015 in San Marino, Bologna, Naples and then in Rome.
