The State of Qatar has decided that the 2022 World Cup stadiums will be alcohol-free, as fans will only be able to buy alcohol outside the stadiums before and after certain matches; This is reported by the global agency Reuters.

The 22nd World Cup will begin at the end of this year, namely on Monday, November 21, 2022, and will end on Sunday, December 18.

The world agency has confirmed that Qatar will implement strict alcohol controls as the World Cup is being hosted for the first time in an Islamic country.

A source told Reuters: “Plans for the stadiums are still being finalized but discussions are underway to allow fans to drink beer on arrival and when leaving the stadium, but no beer will be served during the match or in the stadium.”

“Unlike previous fan zones at the World Cup, beer will not be served all day, but at limited times,” he added.

There will also be allocated a place between the hotel and the district cooling station – a platform for 10,000 people, with techno music and alcohol allowed.

A spokesman for the Qatar Supreme Committee for Delivery and Heritage said that plans to provide alcoholic beverages at the tournament would be announced in due course.

He explained: “Alcoholic drinks are available in certain places in Qatar, such as hotels and bars, and this will not change in 2022.”
