Egyptian Basant Hamida has announced her withdrawal from the World Championships in Athletics currently being held in the United States of America.

The Egyptian track and field athlete gained attention after winning two golds in the 100m and 200m at the Mediterranean Games this month in Algiers, but she suddenly decided to withdraw from the Eugene World Cup, prompting her explain the reason for their absence from the global forum.

Basant wrote via her official Facebook social media account, “To clear up the false news circulating with my decision to withdraw from the World Cup currently taking place in America.”

And she continued: “Everyone knows that I apologized for the African Championship, which was appointed just two weeks before the Mediterranean Games!!! Which is completely insufficient for treatment due to injury, but I decided to participate in the Mediterranean Games in Orana under my own responsibility, despite the injury.

And added: “I was present at the headquarters of the Egyptian Medical Committee in Algiers every day, morning and evening, for treatment throughout the entire period of stay a week before the competition, and they could confirm my words, and so that I could play, I took all possible painkillers, such as painkiller injections, rivets, sprays, and whatever comes to your mind, because I feel pain.” at the next international competitions.
