The Ministry of Agriculture of Ukraine reported that “the country’s farmers managed to harvest about 3.6 million tons of grain this season from an area of 1.2 million hectares, which is 10 percent of the total crop of cultivated land in the country.”
The ministry said in a statement that “the amount of wheat harvested was 1.7 million tons, while the amount of barley was close to 1.8 million tons,” noting that “exports were down 44% year-on-year until June last year, reaching 1 .4 million tons due to the loss of exports by sea.
Turkey announced two days ago that it had reached an agreement between Ukraine, Russia and the UN aimed at resuming the export of Ukrainian grain, which was halted due to the Russian military operation, knowing that more than 20 million tons of Ukrainian grain are still stuck in the mines in the Black Sea port. Odessa, dozens of ships were stranded due to the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.
