The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) issued a warning this Tuesday informing of the possibility of heavy downpours, which could be accompanied by storms, until 6:00 p.m., for the district of Faro.
IPMA yellow alert for “Heavy downpours, occasionally accompanied by thunder, especially near the mountains”It is in effect from 2 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m., reads a statement from the institute.
This warning is the least serious on a scale of three, and is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
At the end of last week, Faro was on orange alert due to heavy rains that, especially in the eastern Algarve, caused flooding, forcing the closure of roads and the suspension of rail traffic on a section of the Algarve Line .
The bad weather that occurred between Thursday and Saturday in the region also left two people homeless in Castro Marim, two people were rescued in Tavira and a third, in Olhão, after falling into a river.
