The Secretary General of NATO warned this Tuesday that a Russian victory in Ukraine will only encourage the Kremlin to go further and insisted that each country decide bilaterally what use it can make of the weapons it has supplied.

At the entrance to a meeting of European Union (EU) defense ministers in Brussels, Mark Rutte, as a guest, said that Russian President Vladimir Putin you can’t achieve your goals in Ukraine.

“Otherwise, Russia will feel more emboldened on our borders and will have an advantage in size and intervention capacity, and I am completely convinced that it will not stop in Ukraine,” added the secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. NATO).

When asked about Ukraine’s use of weapons provided by the Atlantic Alliance countries, Mark Rutte insisted that the Ukrainian military should be able to use them to achieve any military objective that they have, but that decision must be agreed upon bilaterally, between Ukraine and each country that supplied weapons.

“It’s good that there are no restrictions. […]”There is a general opinion on this, but each Member State decides how to understand it,” he added.

Russia invaded Ukraine precisely 1,000 days ago. Of NATO’s 32 member states, 23 belong to the EU.

On Monday, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó criticized Joe Biden’s US administration for supplying missiles to attack Russian territory.

The minister, an avid critic of Ukraine and EU support (in line with the position of Viktor Orbán’s Government and with ties to Moscow), affirmed that the White House’s decision “throw logs into the fire”.

The Kremlin increased its threats and this Tuesday the Russian president alluded to the possibility of using nuclear weapons in the event of a Ukrainian attack with long-range missiles on Russian territory.
