Jamaican sprinter Shelley-Anne Fraser-Pryce won gold for the fifth consecutive time at the 18th World Championships in Athletics in Eugene, USA.

The 35-year-old Fraser-Pryce veteran clocked 10.67 seconds in the Jamaican trio, ahead of compatriots Sherika Jackson, her best of the year (10.73 seconds) and Elaine Thompson-Herra (10.81 seconds).

This is the first time a single country has won all three medals in the women’s sprint, a day after the trio of Fred Kerley, Marvin Pricey and Trayvon Brommel won the men’s triple trophy for the third time in US history.

The Jamaican trio dominated the 100m at the Tokyo Olympics last summer, taking the Thomson-Herr title against Fraser-Pryce and Jackson.

Fraser-Pryce previously won the world title in 2009, 2013, 2015 and 2019 and became the first athlete to win the title in the same race 5 times at the World Championships, knowing that she won the Olympic title twice in 2008 and 2012.

Fraser-Pryce extended her World Championship wins with 12 medals, including 10 golds, making her the fourth best medal-winning sprinter in World Cup history behind American Alison Felix (19) and her compatriots Usain Bolt and Marilyn Ottey. (14 pieces each).
