Atlético Mineiro beat Botafogo 1-0 in a match that brought them together on matchday 17 of the Brazilian league.

Argentina’s Matías Saracho scored the winning goal for Atlético Mineiro in the 55th minute to temporarily put his side in first place in the competition after rising to 31 points, one point ahead of Palmeiras, who will face Cuiaba tomorrow in the same round.

Both teams started the match strong to score quickly and Atlético’s first chance came in the first half when Mariano sent the ball into the box for Saracho, who landed a strong header that ended on the crossbar to finish the first half goalless for both commands.

In the second half, Atlético played more offensively and two minutes later threatened the opponent’s goal through Mariano Nacho, who was alone in front of the goal, but the ball flew over the crossbar.

The first goal was scored in the 55th minute, when Zaracho received the ball and threw it over goalkeeper Douglas Burgess, finishing him into the corner of the goal.

After that, the two teams exchanged attacks, but neither of them was able to score, and the match ended with a score of 1:0.
