The American-born Olympian competing for China won the ESPY Breakthrough Athlete of the Year Award.

Eileen Gu, also known as “Genocide Barbie”, the US skier who competed for China in the Beijing Winter Olympics, was awarded the ESPY Female Athlete of the Year award.

In her acceptance speech, Eileen Gu thanked her grandmother and mother for teaching her to be a “strong, strong woman,” and then gave a Chinese statement.

Before winning the gold medal for China in the women’s freestyle ski event, Gu drew a slew of criticism on Chinese social media for claiming that the dictatorship allowed internet freedom. The incident started when an Instagram user scolded Gu for not realizing how China suppressed freedom of speech.

The user said, “Why can you use Instagram but millions of Chinese can’t?” “Why is there such a special attitude towards you as a Chinese citizen? This is unfair, can you speak for the millions of Chinese who do not have internet freedom?”

Gu replied:[A]No one can download a truly free VPN in the App Store.”

Gu is unaware or unaware that China only allows its citizens to use approved social media apps. At the same time, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp were blocked in the communist country. As Breitbart News has repeatedly reported, China has control over internet freedom, often blocking VPN services and punishing those who try to evade censorship by continuing to promote their own propaganda.

Eileen Gu has had great success as a model in China, her portfolio includes ads for Gucci and Louis Vuitton. She became one of the country’s biggest celebrities, gaining immense fame for her modeling career, sycophantic state media coverage, and lavish advertising campaigns.

In the past, Breitbart News has published extensive information on Eileen Goo and her rise to what Americans later called the “Holocaust Barbie.”

As for the ESPY Awards, viewership has been falling steadily since Caitlyn Jenner received the Courage Award in 2015.
