Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo returned to his club Manchester United’s training headquarters today ahead of talks with new Dutch manager Eric Ten Hag about his future at the club.

The Portugal captain wants to leave his club a year after joining after failing to qualify for the Champions League, although he has few options given his high wages.

Ronaldo is absent from Manchester United’s training camp in Thailand for “family reasons”, the club explained, with Ten Hag confirming that it wants to see the Portuguese in the team.

The top scorer of the Red Devils last season arrived at the training ground today, along with his agent, Jorge Mendez, and also saw the former team coach, Alex Ferguson, who is considered Ronaldo’s godfather.

United begin their league campaign on August 7 against visiting Brighton after finishing their preliminaries against Atlético Madrid in Norway.
