Former Manchester United player Jamie Carragher believes no one wants to bring in Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United. The 37-year-old five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been open about his desire to leave Old Trafford this season. Speaking to former player Gary Neville on The Overlap, Carragher said: “I always thought it would be weird to bring Ronaldo to United. I have always felt that the current problems will arise even if Ronaldo shows a great game. He signed a contract for two years plus one more year. “I could not believe it. Ronaldo would never agree to play a minor role for anyone but as a player at some point in your career we all know you are no longer the player you were in your youth Ronaldo still scores goals but he is no longer young man, United can’t believe it.” I sold him because other clubs didn’t want to see him and I think manager Erik ten Hag didn’t want him either.”
Neville added: “You can’t have a player on a team who wants to manage the team at the same time. We know that Ronaldo can’t play on high pressure and I like the way he wants to play. I’m not sure if this suits ten Hag, so he should leave.”
