The Uruguayan cyclist Mauricio Moreira (Glassdrive-Q8-Anicolor) will start for the fifth stage of the 83 Volta a Portugal, with an unprecedented arrival at the Vila Nova Observatory, dressed in yellow, on the peloton’s return to the road after the break.
After the rest day, Moreira, 27, will have the first great test of his leadershipin the 165.7 kilometers between Mealhada and the Vila Nova Observatory, in Miranda do Corvo, the finish line coinciding with a top-level mountain count.
The squad leaves the city of the district of Aveiro at 12:45 towards the flying goals of Cantanhede (29.6) and Condeixa-a-Nova (90.8), which precede the first difficulty of the day, the count fourth category installed at kilometer 113.9, in Miranda do Corvo.
Before starting the 9.9 of a unprecedented climb on the Volta route to Portugalthe cyclists continue to pass the flying goal of Lousã (142.2).
In a route in which the main difficulty coincides with the finish line, the arrival at the Vila Nova Observatory, one of the three high points of the 83rd Volta a Portugal, is scheduled for 5:28 p.m.
The Uruguayan, runner-up in the last edition, leads the general classification, with two Portuguese taking the podium places: Frederico Figueiredo, also from Glassdrive-Q8-Anicolor, is second at 30 seconds, while Luís Fernandes (Rádio Popular-Paredes- Boavista) is third, at 31.
