Sameiro appears on the way to defend Frederico Figueiredo’s yellow card in the Volta a Portugal

The Portuguese cyclist Frederico Figueiredo (Glassdrive-Q8-Anicolor) has Sameiro this Friday on the way to defend the lead in the 83rd Tour of Portugal, in the seventh stage, which ends in Braga.

“Fred”, 31 years old, will wear yellow for the second consecutive day in the 150.1 kilometers between Santo Tirso and Braga, whose great difficulty is the ascent to Sameiro, the second mountain installed less than 10 kilometers from the finish line.

The peloton leaves Santo Tirso at 1:30 p.m., followed by two flying goals, the first in Póvoa de Varzim, at kilometer 28, and the second in Esposende, at 46.6.

On a mostly flat stage, the riders find a mountain score of fourth in Vila Franca (70.9), before crossing the last intermediate sprint of the course in Ponte de Lima (98.5).

Then, you have to wait at kilometer 136.1 to start the 5.5-kilometer climb to the emblematic Sameiro, where a second-category mountain count is installed.

The runners then descend to Avenida da Liberdade, where the Arrival is scheduled for 17:30.

Figueiredo leads with a seven second advantage over his Uruguayan teammate Mauricio Moreira, with Luís Fernandes (Rádio Popular-Paredes-Boavista) in third position, 38.
