The Council of the International Football Association (FIFA) has announced the immediate suspension of the Indian Football Association due to interference by a third party.

The Supreme Court of India dissolved the Football Association last May and appointed a three-member committee to amend the association’s charter and organize elections.

FIFA and the AFC have sent a working group led by AFC Secretary General Windsor John to draw up a roadmap to amend the association’s charter by the end of July and hold elections no later than September 15.

FIFA said in a statement that the suspension will be lifted as soon as an order is issued to form a committee of administrators that will take over the powers of the Executive Committee of the Indian Federation and restore full control over the day-to-day affairs of the Federation. was cancelled.

“FIFA is in constructive contact with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of India and hopes to find a positive solution to the problem,” he added.

According to FIFA laws, member associations must be free from legal and political interference in their countries. FIFA has previously suspended the activities of other national associations for similar issues.
