One had to have direct entry, two had already been obtained directly the day before, the last one arrived this morning: Fernando Pimenta won the fourth final in the European Canoeing Championship in Munich, after completing the first semi-final of K2 1,000 with João Duarte in third position.
After a very strong start to the competition, played in difficult conditions in light of the rain that fell this morning in Bavaria, the national duo went ahead in the 250 and 500 metres, then start to manage the pace without jeopardizing the passage to the final. Fernando Pimenta and João Duarte finished with a time of 3.19.919, behind Denmark (Simon Jensen and Morten Graversen, 3.18.152) and Norway (Vemund Näess-Jensen and Jon Amund Vold, 3.19.880). Hungary, Germany, Spain, Italy, Serbia and Great Britain have qualified for the decisive race, which will take place on Sunday at 10:15 am (Portuguese time).
