Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas expressed satisfaction with his performance against Russia’s world No. 1 Daniil Medvedev, stressing that he made his opponent work hard in the Cincinnati Open semi-final, which ended in his victory with a score of 7-6, 3-6. 6:3 and reached the final, where they faced the Croatian Borna Coric, who finished 152nd.
The world No. 7 seed is in contention for its third title this season after winning Monte Carlo last April and then winning the Mallorca Open in June.
Tsitsipas noted that he was aware that not everything can turn out in his favor, and that tennis is a game of proportions and numbers.
“It’s a matter of detail and if he can keep the lead or get closer and sometimes move up the points, you can tell he’s on the right track,” he added.
He concluded by saying, “I saw that he couldn’t hit the ball hard and that he was trying to put in a lot of effort, and at that time I realized that I was pressing him and that this was my chance to win.”
