Santa Clara coach warns of the importance of “controlling anxiety”

Santa Clara’s coach, Mário Silva, warned this Friday, anticipating the reception of Marítimo, that “whoever best controls anxiety” will be closer to winning the game on the fifth day of the I Soccer League.

At the press conference, which took place in the center of Ribeira Grande, Mário Silva said that matches are defined by “details” and “details”, considering “anxiety control” a “detail” for the next match.

“Whoever manages to control anxiety better, whoever is braver, whoever takes more risks – because risk is part of the game – and whoever plays with more quality, is probably the team that will win,” he said.

The coach said he was “absolutely sure” that the game would be “competitive”, praising the “quality” of the players and the “competence” of the Marítimo coach, Vasco Seabra.

“For both Marítimo and Santa Clara it is a game in which both teams need to win. They need points and their coaches also need results”, he underlined.

Mário Silva devalued the fact that the Madeira team has not yet scored any points in four rounds of the championship.

“It will not be an easy game. There are no easy games in this competition and nobody thinks that for Marítimo right now having zero points in the general classification will be easy. Will not be. Those of us who analyze the matches know what we say, ”he stressed.

The Azorean coach was “optimistic” about Sunday’s game and recognized the importance of achieving the first victory to “stimulate” the team to “do an even better job”.

“Fortunately, the market [de transferências] He closed, he closed the group and, now, from now on, it’s about stabilizing and creating all the conditions for the team to do a good job. Nothing better than a victory in the next match to encourage and stimulate this to happen in a more effective way”, he said.

Mário Silva promised that the Azorean team will continue “working” to “improve and grow”, warning of the need to “integrate new players” with the rest of the squad.

The press conference took place in the heart of Praça Hintze Ribeiro, in the center of Ribeira Grande, the second most populous city in São Miguel, to stimulate connection with the community and “promote other places on the island.”

“It is important for the club that we are in a different place to encourage people to like Santa Clara even more. It is important that all the people of the island strongly support Santa Clara”, said the coach.

Santa Clara, 16th, with one point in four games, hosts Marítimo, 18th and last, without points, on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. in Lisbon), at the Estádio de São Miguel, in Ponta Delgada.
