Boxers are always told to protect themselves. Baseball players would be wise to follow the same rules when walking with batters making practice shots.
Minnesota Twins catcher Gary Sanchez unknowingly returns to the bunker to receive a scouting report on the pitcher he encountered when teammate Gilberto Celestino nearly collapsed from a practice hit.

“I have a few minutes to ask a few questions about this pitcher,” Sanchez said. “As I was standing inside the circle on the deck, I saw his stick on his shoulder, so I went back to the bunker and didn’t notice him swinging.”
Despite nearly certain multiple facial fractures and potentially life-changing injuries, Sanchez ignored the event.
“It almost hurt me but thank God nothing happened,” Sanchez said. “Just an accident. It was perfect.”
