NBA star LeBron James has called for more fines to be imposed on Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver after evidence of his racist and biased behavior was found.

On Wednesday morning, Sarver was fined $10 million (£8.7 million) and banned from the sport for a year after the NBA investigated allegations against him.

The National Basketball Association interviewed 320 people and analyzed 80,000 documents and videos after reports about Sarver’s behavior appeared in an ESPN article last November. She noted that his 18-year career was riddled with racism, sexism and bullying.

James tweeted: “Our league definitely got it wrong. I don’t need to explain why. You all read stories and decide for yourself. There is no place for that kind of behavior in this league. I love this league and have deep respect for our leadership. But this is not true”.

He added: “There is no place for gender discrimination and racism in any workplace. We set our union as an example of our values.”
