Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has reportedly criticized Real Madrid for celebrating the Champions League title he won last May.
Real Madrid won the fourteenth title in their history after defeating Liverpool 1-0 in the final in France.
Al-Khelaifi told Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo: “It’s strange to see Real Madrid celebrating a title in a European club competition.”
He added: “The Champions League is the best competition in the world, it’s strange to participate in it, celebrate the title and enjoy it.”
He concluded: “However, they are trying to create a new championship, but we will not spend time on this as we move forward.”
It is noteworthy that Real Madrid participated in the idea of organizing a European Super League with Juventus, Barcelona and many other clubs, but refused to participate, fearing sanctions from UEFA, which refused to organize the tournament.
