French newspaper Liberation reported that Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, was involved in a businessman kidnapping and extortion scandal over Qatar’s hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The newspaper reported that an Algerian-French businessman was arrested over his claim that he had documents condemning the State of Qatar in the case of Qatar hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, adding that he was illegally arrested in early 2020 in Doha, before he was released nine months later, revealing that the information the businessman possessed related to cases of extortion and bribery against Al-Khelaifi in the dossier of Qatar hosting the World Cup.

The newspaper added that the businessman is 41 years old and heads at least 15 companies, and that he settled in Doha in 2019, and his first meeting with Al Khulaifi took place in 2017.

During the period of his arrest, always according to a French newspaper, the alleged businessman was placed in complete isolation and treated inhumanely, and the process of his release took place after his wife handed over documents condemning Qatar and Al-Khelaifi, with the mediation of Minister Jean – Mark Eliot.
