Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has commented on a statement by Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi that focused on Real Madrid’s fears of competing in the Champions League.

Al-Khelaifi said the Real Madrid president wanted to create a European Super League out of his fear of the power of competition in the European Champions League, which led to ridicule of Pérez.

Pérez commented: “Young people today demand tournaments with high technical value, but the current competitions are not planned properly, they are only important in the last stages.”

He added: “Like all competitions in the league, these competitions need to change for the better with him.”

He continued his statement about the European Super League and said: “The idea has not been canceled yet, we believe we can benefit from it in many things for the development of football.”

He added: “European Club Association President Nasser Al-Khelaifi said that Real Madrid wanted to create a European Super League because they were afraid of competition. We still have to mention who Real Madrid is, the most successful club in history.”

And he concluded: “We won the fourteenth European Champions League, now we are thinking about winning the fifteenth title, this is the mentality of Real Madrid.
