Manchester United manager Eric Ten Hag has spoken about the future of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo following reports that the player wanted to leave during the winter transfer window.
And some press reports showed that Ronaldo wants to leave, especially since he is always on the bench and did not participate in the derby match against Manchester City in the English Premier League.
“Ronaldo is unhappy that he didn’t play on Sunday,” Ten Hag said at a press conference before the match against Omonia in the Europa League.
He added: “Don’t get me wrong, the question was about how he feels in training but he’s happy, that’s what I see, of course he wants to participate and gets mad when he doesn’t play.”
He continued: “Ronaldo is an ambitious player who always wants to compete with his teammates, of course he is not happy when he remains on the bench, but he trains well, he is in good shape and motivated, and this is what we expect. from a player like him.”
He concluded: “I want to repeat that I decided not to pay him out of respect for him, especially since the result was 4:0. What is happening has nothing to do with the departure or stay of Ronaldo, I do not see him unhappy.”
