The Portuguese international William Carvalho assured this Monday that he is experiencing the “most constant and consistent” moment of his career and that Betis, the Spanish First League soccer club he represents, can improve compared to last season.
With 12 official matches for the Sevillian shield this season, the 30-year-old midfielder scored his first two goals of 2022/23 this Sunday, in the win at home against Almería (3-1), for matchday nine of the world Cup. championship, and he recognized that, in his fifth season playing in Andalusia, he has made “more regular exhibitions”.

After finishing 10th in 2018/19, his debut season in Spain, and 15th in 2019/20, Betis achieved a sixth and fifth place under Pellegrini, and William Carvalho stresses that the main goal for 2022 /23 is to repeat the classification for UEFA competitions, although they consider it possible to reach one of the first four places and the consequent access to the Champions League.
“The club has evolved a lot. The quality of the players has increased. Players came with a winning mentality. It is difficult for Betis to play in European competitions (…). We must have a winning mentality to do more and better. We have the ambition to improve this year”, he underlined, admitting that a ranking above rival Sevilla, currently 12th in the table, would also be “good”.
