Cristiano Ronaldo said in an interview with Piers Morgan that he doesn’t chase records, it’s the records that chase him. Now there is one more. This Friday, the captain of the Portuguese team became the first player in history to score in five World Cups, when he scored against Ghana.
The Portuguese star scored in the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 World Cups and now 2022. On twitterFIFA was one of the first to highlight Cristiano Ronaldo’s feat, writing that the footballer is “out of this world.”

Cristiano Ronaldo, 37, had scored a goal in each of his first three World Cup appearances (2006, 2010 and 2014) and four in his last (2018), adding now the eighth goal, in a day in which he is playing his 18th match in the competition.
The new record, the first player to score in five World Cups, joins many others that CR7 have added over the years:
- Top scorer in the history of official matches (818 goals).
- Best scorer in the history of the national teams (117 goals).
- Top scorer in the club’s history (702 goals).
- Top scorer in the Champions League and the Club World Cup (140 goals and 7 goals).
