Before launching a new model, all car manufacturers have to develop and name it, and there is no baptism without the prior registration of the name, which traditionally occurs during the initial phase of the project. Now, Lamborghini has announced that it intends to launch its first 100% electric vehicle on the market in 2025 and it seems that this model will already be in a preliminary phase of development. Hence the need to register it.
Lamborghini has registered the name Revuelta with the European Union Institute of Intellectual Property, but does not confirm that it will be applied to an electric model. However, the Italian brand already has a range of three models, made up of the Huracán and Aventador coupés, to which it has added the Urus, an SUV and the only four-seater model with as many doors from the Italian manufacturer. And it is known that the next creation will be a slim low-battery sports car.
The current CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, admits the arrival of a fourth model soon, but without revealing what its appearance or philosophy will be. However, his predecessor, Stefano Domenicali, was more open to sharing information, having anticipated -when he was still CEO- that the company’s first electric car would be a 2+2-seater GT, a kind of modern version powered by by Lamborghini Espada battery.
A possibility that should not be overlooked is that the transalpine brand recovers the Asterion, a prototype revealed in 2014 that could easily be transformed into a battery-powered Grand Turismo 2+2. This model has the advantage of being both modern, but with a certain retroexactly the recipe that Lamborghini has tested in some special models, such as the Countach LPI 800-4.
