HBO last week tonight Host John Oliver attacked left-wing Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for keeping up with major tech antitrust laws that already quoted the two girls that Schumer worked for Amazon and parent company Facebook. Meta.
On Sunday’s scene, John Oliver slammed Senator Schumer as part of a larger attack on Silicon Valley giants against family-related lawmakers.
“It doesn’t help that at least 17 members of Congress currently have children working or have recently worked at the four largest tech companies, most notably the daughter of Chuck Schumer, a marketing manager at Meta, and one that doesn’t help. Amazon registered lobbyist,” he said.
Oliver argued that Congress should take immediate action to break up big tech companies before the midterm elections. The two antitrust bills under review will effectively limit the company’s ability to promote its own products and practices over others.
Despite his support for the bill, Schumer has yet to reveal the voting schedule.
“If Congress doesn’t do this before the August recess, the bills will likely be dead because everyone will be focused on the midterms, which we know will completely disappear from the Democrats in the fall,” Oliver said.
“So now we have a very small window to do something about it.”
According to Breitbart News, progressives support the bill, believing that the bill will ease the censorship of tech platforms.
