Opel does not want to miss the 40th anniversary of its most popular model, the Corsa. Four decades after the first unit rolled off the assembly line and with a “résumé” of 14 million units produced over six generations, the German utility vehicle is entitled to a limited edition, whose number of units refers precisely to the year in which it debuted on the market: 1982.
This special edition, of which the brand has just published the first images, is easily distinguished by a series of details applicable to any version of the Corsa. Although the launch photos focus on the electric variant, as the Observer was able to verify, the versions equipped with a thermal engine can also be part of the batch of units from 1982 of the “Corsa 40 Años” series..
Evoking the original Corsa A, a new body color appears, a red called “Rekord Red” that contrasts with the 17-inch light alloy wheels in gloss black. with matte gray inserts. To further accentuate the contrast, the mirror caps, the roof, as well as the brand logo and the model name inscription on the rear are also black.
The exclusivity associated with this series, which will only be available in selected markets, is evident in the interior, where the number plate stands out., located next to the center display on the passenger side. but what really highlights the tartan covering of the seats, capable of arousing a certain nostalgia with fans of the original Corsa due to the checkered pattern. For those, the good news is that “Customers will also be able to showcase this timeless pattern, at no additional cost, with limited edition tartan socks, in the current design, as well as in the original”, informs the brand.
There are no prices indicated yet for the “Corsa 40 Years”whose commercialization should begin within a few weeks, exclusively in Europe and only in a few countries. Portugal is left out of the batch of selected markets.
