Urgent alert for Android users about a new threat targeting millions!

Android users have been warned about a new and evil type of malware called MaliBot that can hack phone security to gain very difficult levels of access.

Researchers at F5 Labs discovered, the bug spreads via SMS and perfectly steals passwords, bank details, and access to cryptocurrency from Android phones – but that’s just the beginning.

Malware can also access text messages, capture Android screens and achieve two-factor authentication (2FA). The latter is a major concern, as two-factor authentication aims to add an extra layer of security that protects accounts and should prevent hackers from gaining access even if they have your username and password.

When two-factor authentication (2FA) is enabled, you will be sent a unique security code via text message that will be used as an additional login. It’s nearly impossible for cyber thieves to gain access to this one -time password without you knowing, but the new MailBot malware allows them to do that, making it a serious threat.

And if you want to be safe from this attack, there is something you can easily do on your Android phone today.

MailBot malware – like other threats – is spread via spam, this time via SMS. MailBot’s posting tried to redirect users to fake websites where they were persuaded to click on a link to that site.

To help protect yourself from the dangerous threat of malware, be wary of texts you receive from unknown people who try to click links or redirect you to unknown websites.

According to a ZDNet report, two malicious websites have been found spreading malware, including a fake website for the popular cryptocurrency tracking app that has been downloaded more than 1 million times on the Google Play Store.

Once the device is infected, MailBot can use the compromised phone to send text messages to other numbers to further spread the malware.

So far, researchers have noted that MailBot mainly targets users of Italian and Spanish banks. However, they warn that “we can expect to add a wider range of goals to the app over time.”
