‘Morally and intellectually corrupt’: Longtime UCLA professor resigns over ‘academic takeover’

The longtime UCLA professor has announced that he is resigning due to his “search for higher education.”

UCLA professor Joseph Manson wrote in a blog post earlier this month, “I’m a professor, I retired at 62 because Walk’s pursuit of higher education ruined academic life.”

The professor explained that for decades the anthropology department had been “peaceful, coherent and inclusive” until the “late 2000s”, “gradually,” practitioners of “critical” (i.e. ultra-left postmodernists) anthropology’s practitioners were “one by one” to “form the strongest department of the group.”

“These militant professors brought in more militant graduate students to work with them,” Manson said.

The professor also spoke of the “public torture and humiliation” that one of his colleagues, P. Geoffrey Brantingham, was subjected to, even though he was “a standard liberal Democrat”.

Manson explains how Brantingham’s research led to accusations of racism.

Jeff created simulation models of the geographic and temporal patterns of urban crime and developed predictive software that he sold to law enforcement. In the spring of 2018, the Faculty Anthropology Graduate Student Association passed a resolution accusing Jeff of “continuing” his research (among other counter-revolutionary sins).[ing] and make it natural[ing] He called for the criminalization of blacks in the United States” and his research to be “returned” to UCLA’s vice-chancellor, perhaps for some sort of investigation. This document contains no trace of scientific reasoning, but looks more like a statement of religious excommunication.

The professor added that “even though Jeff stopped attending faculty meetings and endured permanent exclusion in every possible way”, “the torturers did not kill him” because “the professor tried to organize a gang to demand the professional extermination of Brantingham.”

“Jeff continued to be a popular and effective foe of the division’s Awakening faction,” Manson said. “Jeff wasn’t just aroused, it wasn’t personal.”

Manson also talked about how a colleague had used the term “Latin” in public, despite being mocked privately before:

In questioning following a public speech, a colleague openly used the word “Hispanic”, although the speaker referred to himself and his subjects as “Spanish” and had been sarcastically referred to in previous private interviews, according to opinion polls. Only a small minority of Hispanics want to be called “Hispanic”.

Manson went on to say that “anti-Zionism, also known as thinly disguised anti-Semitism,” is “typical of elite U.S. universities, including UCLA.”

“In May 2019, one of my colleagues, Keyyon Pak, invited San Francisco State University professor Rabab Abdulhadi to his course to declare that Zionism is a white supremacy,” the professor said. “There was a lot of hype.”

“I suspect that mainstream higher education in the US is morally and intellectually corrupt, beyond self-healing, and therefore no longer a valuable environment in which I spend my time and effort,” Manson said.

“The emergence of alternative institutions such as the University of Austin and Ralston College is an encouraging sign, but for now it is painfully slow,” added the professor.

Manson is not alone in his views on what higher education is.

Likewise, Dr. resigned. Jordan Peterson, from his full-time position at the University of Toronto earlier this year, spoke of the “terrible ideology of diversity, inclusion and justice” that is “destroying education and commerce.”
