The organizers of the TikTok network have denied reports circulating on some websites that there has been a massive data breach of network users.
The Russian department of the network’s press service told RIA Novosti, “TikTok’s network team conducted an investigation into a possible leak of user data mentioned by several Internet sites and did not find any evidence of violations on platform security.”
“The privacy and security of user data is a top priority for TikTok. Our security team investigated the allegations of data breaches and found no evidence of breaches of the platform’s security systems,” it said in a service post.
Several websites said, “Hackers managed to steal a wide variety of private data of more than 2.05 billion TikTok users, as well as data from users of the Chinese network WeChat and data of users of the Douyi service .”
Technical expert and Microsoft employee, Troy Hunt, said that he conducted an investigation into the leak and said that the evidence presented in the hack is still not convincing enough and the data is not convincing enough. It may not be related to TikTok but posted by third parties for marketing or e-commerce purposes.
