The European Court of Justice upheld the decision of the European Commission, which previously ordered Google to fine more than $4 billion.
According to available information, the Court of Justice of the European Union decided that “the European Commission’s decision to fine Google earlier was correct, as Google imposed illegal restrictions on manufacturers of Android mobile devices and mobile operator, but the dominance of the search engine, but the court decided to reduce the amount of the fine from 4.3 billion euros to 4.1 billion euros.”
In the summer of 2018, the European Commission fined Google 4.34 billion euros for “violating EU antitrust rules” and “illegal restrictions” on Android device manufacturers and mobile operators.
At the time, the Commission said that Google “imposes restrictions on certain smartphones running Android systems and forces device developers to download copies of their browsers to their devices before they take out.”
