The new GranTurismo, Maserati’s luxury coupé, is becoming more and more appealing to those looking for a vehicle in this segment. The most powerful version will be the electric one, easily surpassing the German competitors and even surpassing the Ferrari and Lamborghini models that, not being direct rivals, fill the eyes of sports lovers. But now it is known that GranTurismo will not forget those who prefer combustion enginessince the Italian brand will propose a version with the V6 biturbo of the MC20.
The MC20 is a coupé that leaves no one indifferent, very low and wide, with only two seats to leave room to place the engine in a central position. Looking like a Ferrari with a Maserati emblem, it mounts a 3.0 V6 biturbo engine, internally called Nettuno, capable of providing 630 hp at 7,500 rpm and a torque of 730 Nm constantly between 3,000 and 5,500 rpm. Thanks to the low weight of the MC20 (1150 kg), thanks to a carbon fiber chassis, this two-seater coupé is capable of reaching 325 km/h and 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.
Now it is known that this same 3.0-liter V6 biturbo, probably with a little less power, will equip the most powerful version of the new generation of GranTurismo combustion. As it is substantially heavier than the MC20 (more than 1,850 kg), the new four-seater GranTurismo coupé it will drop from 325 km/h and will exceed the 0-100 km/h threshold in 2.9 seconds, but it will still be one of the fastest four-seater sports coupes on the market.
1200 horsepower Maserati GranTurismo Folgore was “hunted”
Nevertheless, The leader of the GranTurismo range, in terms of power and acceleration, will be the Folgore, the electric version. All the technical data of the battery-powered GranTurismo are not yet known, but everything indicates that it will have at least 100 kWh of capacity, to ensure a range of 500 km. More important to potential customers will be the fact that the Folgore advertises 305 km/h and is capable of reaching 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds.
