The Russian “AKA-12” machine gun underwent changes in its design after the experience of combat use in military operations in Ukraine became popular.
The designers eliminated the two-shot firing system and applied the control system to the two-shot firing system.
The head of the company “Kalashnikov” Alan Lushnikov announced that an experimental model of the upgraded machine gun was recently presented to the Russian Ministry of Defense. Planned technical solutions are now being put into the technical documentation for the submachine gun.
And the media reported in April that the design of the “AKA-12” machine gun, which is the main light weapon in the Russian army, will be changed based on the experience of the battles that took place in Mariupol.
The machine gun received “Picatini” plates, which allow the user to install aiming devices, night vision devices, aiming devices, lamps and columns of various types. The collapsible butt allows you to control its length and adapt the machine gun to the personal characteristics of the soldier.
As for the balancing device mounted on the gun barrel, it reduces the efficiency and also reduces the flare caused by the shot. All this allowed to increase the effective firing range of the machine gun to 1000 meters. The machine gun can use a circular magazine that holds 96 rounds in addition to two conventional magazines that hold 30 and 60 rounds. The weight of the machine gun is 3.5 kilograms.
