Russia is testing a new marine research vessel

Russian media have announced that tests are continuing on a new research vessel being developed for the country’s navy.

In a statement made by the press service of the United Shipbuilding Corporation of Russia, “The new naval research vessel Yevgeny Goriglidzhan has begun another round of tests. This phase of tests is being conducted in the Baltic Sea.”

In the statement, “The ship’s trials are expected to continue until December 20. During the trials, experts will ensure the ship’s mobility and usability in water and make sure the internal systems are working. After completing the trials, the ship returned to Russia’s Yantar factory to prepare for the government’s trial phase.”

Russia began to build this ship in 2016 at the “Yantar” factory within the framework of the government project 02670, and the production project was stopped for some reasons related to the provision of the necessary equipment for it, and when 2020 this ship was launched. Water and test stages began to prepare for delivery to the Russian Navy.

The displacement of this ship is equal to 4,000 tons, it can carry 55 people, including scientists, researchers and crew, and can work on missions up to 32 days.
