Kalorama Festival. Siouxsie Sioux, Pabllo Vittar and M83 among the new confirmations

The British Siouxsie Sioux, the Brazilian Pabllo Vittar, the Scottish Belle & Sebastian and the French M83 are among the 40 new confirmations of the Kalorama festival, which returns this summer to Parque da Bela Vista, in Lisbon.

The organization of the festival announced this Wednesday, in a statement sent to Lusa, a series of artists and bands that reinforce the poster of the 2nd edition, scheduled for August 31, September 1 and 2“among which is the mythical Siouxsie who, after almost five decades of having pulverized all the canons about the place of women in music and in the music industry together with The Banshees, returns to Portugal after a hiatus of 28 years” .

Siouxsie Sioux, who formed the Siouxsie and The Banshees in 1976 with Steven Severin, announced a return to the stage in 2023, ten years after the last concert.

The 65-year-old singer last performed in Portugal, with The Banshees, in 1995. Her visit to Portugal, for concerts in Lisbon and Porto, was part of the world tour of the album “The Rapture”, released in 1995, a year before the band ended its run.

The list of new confirmations at the festival also includes the Yeah Yeah Yeahs “who present their new album live, the first in almost a decade”, “the ‘unsold’ and haunting master of electronica” Aphex Twin, “some of the most famous consensual artists among the Portuguese public” such as José González or Belle & Sebastian, the “comet of British rap” slowthai, Arca, Pablo Vittar, M83 and Junior Boys.

This wave of new confirmations also includes Pongo, Scúru Fitxádu, Selma Uamusse and Eu.Clides, “some of the most exciting national artists who have affirmed the unique imprint of Lusophonia in the context of international music”.

The Kalorama organization also announced, “one of the great novelties of this edition”, the Panorama, one of the five stages that will be in the venue, “where people will dance from the opening of the doors to the closing”.EITHER”.

On the Panorama stage, “dedicated exclusively to electronic music, with a quadraphonic sound design”, will perform Ben Ufo, Bundino, Call Super B2B Anz, Phoebe, John Talabot, Gazzy, Denmark, Moxie, Peach, Nicolas Lutz, Tijana and Violet .

In November, the following had already been confirmed for the poster of the second edition of Kalorama: Arcade Fire, Florence + The Machine, Foals, Metronomy, The Blaze, Amyl & The Sniffers, Capitão Fausto, Dino D’Santiago and Rita Vian.

According to the organization, “the latest names, including the third headliner and the Art project -which in 2023 will be more ambitious, will have more artists, installations and collaborations with the public-, will be announced soon.”

MEO Kalorama was held for the first time last year, on September 1, 2 and 3, at Parque da Bela Vista, and headlined the Arctic Monkeys, the duo The Chemical Brothers and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds . According to the organization, during the three days they went through festival grounds around 112,000 people, of which more than 30% are foreigners.

The festival, organized by the Spanish promoter Last Tour, has as “three fundamental axes” music, sustainability and art. Three-day passes to Kalorama cost €145.
