The Chamber of Seia, in the district of Guarda, promotes expeditionary touron Saturday, which will visit some of the places mapped in the scientific expedition to Serra da Estrela, in 1881.
The tour is led by technicians from the Serra da Estrela Interpretation Center (CISE) and historian Helena Gonçalves Pintoauthor of the book entitled “A journey to the summit of knowledge – The scientific expedition to the Serra da Estrela in 1881”, published in 2022 by Câmara de Seia.
The pedestrian route, which leaves from the CISE, at 9 a.m., includes passing through some of the places”emblematic of this unprecedented journey”carried out by the Lisbon Geography Society for 142 years.
The route through the high plateau includes the passage through Lagoa Escura, Barros Vermelhos, Covão Grande, Arcas do Pão and Lagoa Comprida, where “the Details and curiosities of the memorable avant-garde project..
