On August 5, Anne Heche’s car crashed into a house in the Mar Vista neighborhood, causing the house and vehicle to catch fire. Shortly after, a neighbor of Lynne Mishele, owner of the house destroyed by the American actress’s car, called 911, equivalent to 112, and revealed to the authorities what had happened, according to CNN Entertainment: “a car just passed by my neighbor’s house.”

After the accident, the Los Angeles Fire Department announced in a statement that “a car with a passenger went through a two-story house of 69 square meters built in 1952, compromising the structure and causing a massive fire”. 59 firefighters were present at the scene, who took about 65 minutes to put out the flames and try to save the actress.
Following the accident, Anne Heche was left in a coma and in “extremely critical condition”. The actress was even hooked up to life support machines for doctors to determine if she had possibility of organ donation.

A preliminary blood test was also performed on the actress, which revealed the “presence of narcotics,” according to a Los Angeles police spokesperson.
Heche finally died on August 12, at the age of 53.
