Windows 11 continues to add features to improve the experience of using several of its tools. One of them is the start menu, which has received an overhaul that includes both design and functional changes.

One of the last is a suggestion of a web page, next to the last documents used by the user. This option is currently in the testing phase, so only those who can use it are members of the Insider program.

“We’ve been working on adding more valuable content to the Featured section of Home, and we’re excited to introduce a new type of content: websites. For the first step, we’ll recommend common websites based on your region or browsing history to help you easily return to the websites that matter to you,” Microsoft said on its blog.

As the company notes, the goal of this feature is to help users have a more comfortable and direct navigation, especially for those who use Edge as their main browser.

There’s no word yet on whether this feature will be an ad window to promote specific products or websites, given that Windows 11 has been testing adding ads to the Start bar with its own products.

Although this tool will be there by default, users will have control over it, as by right-clicking on a website they can remove it individually or cut recommended pages directly.

This modification is just one of many tweaks to the operating system’s design and performance that are in the testing phase.

Task Manager now has a much more modern aesthetic, with a process filter, better support for design layers or themes, and more efficient dialogs.

It also adds an option with energy saving recommendations, which will allow optimizing the computer’s battery consumption. To use it, go to Settings > System > Battery & Power > Power Recommendations.

There will be a series of tips like turning off the screen from time to time, using dark mode, among other options that can be turned on and off based on preferences.

There are also changes to the taskbar, such as showing clock seconds and performance improvements to allow more files and content on your computer to appear in search results. In this section, a box will appear with video call configuration options, where effects can be added.

Another interesting addition is that now when copying text into the notepad or anywhere, a tab will appear at the bottom with a button that will direct the Edge user and perform a search for the selected words. This tool is only being tested in the United States, but they hope to expand it to more places.

Accounts ensure that when the operating system opens a start menu, a message is displayed alerting users to relevant content. Clicking on this message will display ads OneDrivewhich is the company’s cloud storage system.

The promotion encourages people to create an account with access to 5GB of cloud storage and then access to 100GB for €2 a month or €20 a year.

Common factor among other users, so it will not be direct advertising with banners or invasive videos and that it will be advertising about own products Microsoft, and not from a third party.

These tests are included for those who have the version Windows 11 Build 25227which is available to insiders, so it is not a feature open to the public on any computer.
