They met during their master’s degree in fashion design in Milan. She was born in the north of Portugal. He, in Detroit, in the United States of America. Inês Amorim headed to London, where she did an internship with Yang Li. Reid Baker went to learn from Haider Ackerman in Antwerp. When they finally created a brand together, they named it after his grandfather: Ernest W. Baker, an early Detroit publicist. And they came together in their land, Viana do Castelo, where they manage to be closer to the factories and craftsmen who materialize their designs.

From Viana do Castelo to the Grammys seems like a long way to go, but the journey was not rushed. “We always wanted our growth to be organic,” Inês explains to the Observer.
