The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that “Ambassadors of the State of Palestine have reached out to foreign ministries, decision-making centers, public opinion and media representatives in host countries and provided a full explanation of the details of the crime of the execution of martyred journalist Shirin Abu Akla, who was shot dead by occupying forces while covering storming the refugee camp.

Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Al-Dik, stated that “our ambassadors demanded that the Israeli government be held fully and directly responsible for this, that it be held accountable and that those who did this and those behind it deserves to be judged.”

He pointed out that “on the instructions of the President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh, as well as on the instructions of the embassy and mission of Palestine, a list of condolences to the martyr Abu Akila was opened for three days. Journalists, media workers, representatives of civil society, human rights and human rights organizations and associations in the host countries, whether in writing in the register of condolences, or with the positions they expressed regarding the condemnation of the crime of martyrdom of Abu Akila, and expressed their condolences and solidarity with our people and their families, calling for a transparent and impartial international investigation into the circumstances of this crime.”

Al-Dik explained that “a number of embassies of the State of Palestine, in partnership with the community and its leadership, have organized mass events to denounce this crime, whether by organizing solidarity sit-ins in front of the embassies’ headquarters or sit-ins.” and marches in different cities.

He pointed out that “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Palestinian embassies continue to document these activities on the official page of the ministry and embassies, and the public can review them.”
